Looking to find the perfect gift for any occasion that shows love, care, and concern for people you love without breaking the bank? Consider gifting the gift of prayer.
Yes, we know what you’re thinking, that’s not a gift. But, believe us, prayer is the most valuable, powerful, life changing, restoring, intimate gift; you can give everyone!
Although we’re talking about gifting to everyone we want to share our story of gifting prayer to each other as husband and wife. It’s hard enough coming up with a great gift idea when you’re getting along, let alone trying to come up with a gift when you’re at odds with each other.
Our marriage wasn’t always as loving, and bliss as it is today. In fact, the first 5 years of our marriage was so strenuous, we were considering divorce until we sought Godly counsel and decided to pick up two powerful books: The Power of A Praying Wife and The Power of A Praying Husband.
We have to admit; we didn’t get the book at the same time. Timberley picked up the book on her own, reading it honestly in hopes of changing Andre. Truth be told, she was in for a surprise when she read on page 31…”nothing in me wants to pray for this man.”
At first, she was thinking, oh yes this is what I’m talking about. A book that gets me, Lord change him! Well, we have news for you, that was all wrong! The book was more about changing herself and praying for her husband. Then and only then, will there be a change in the marriage.
It was Timberley’s example of reading the book, and choosing to work on herself that motivated Andre to pick up the book for himself and began to work on himself while praying for his wife.
The Gift of Prayer
The impact of those books changed the way we prayed for one another and our marriage. As a result, we expanded our library to the other Power of The Praying book series, which impacted our prayers for our children.
Over time, we began to gift the books in this series to others, because prayer truly is the gift that keeps on giving. After serving in ministry for over 15 years, we’ve seen prayer welcomed by everyone.
On the other hand, we’ve counseled many who have found praying to be challenge because they simply didn’t know what to pray. Gifting a resource that helps our fellow brothers and sister learn how to pray according to scripture is literally the most valuable gift we can give.
In The End
When a parent has hit rock bottom with their children, or a couple is at the brink of divorce, an expensive gift won’t bring reconciliation. However, there is a gift that can restore hearts, cultivate humility and forgiveness – and that our friends is prayer.
So whether you’re gifting to; parents, grandparents, couples, or singles, there’s a book and a prayer that’s perfect.
