Sometimes walking in obedience to God can feel like we’re walking into deep waters. But is it possible that God is getting ready to communicate fresh revelation?
New Obedience To God
If you serve in ministry, The Maxwell Leadership Bible is a must-have for your study library. This was given to Timberley as a gift from a dear sister in Christ, who was affectionately known as “Auntie,” when she served in a leading role in women’s ministry.
Who would have thought that eight years later this Bible would have been an integral part of our leadership training when we stepped in for a season to serve as Pastors in our church after the home-going of our beloved Pastors.
That was a huge commitment to God, and to our family. But as with everything, we took it before the Lord for His leading and direction.
At that point of our life, we already developed a lifestyle of living within the priorities of God. However, we knew if we stepped into that role, it would cause us to really live up to God’s priorities in order to go where He was calling us; without neglecting our primary priorities.
It was during a time of fasting, praying and reading God’s Word where we came across this quote in the middle of The Maxwell Leadership Bible that convicted our hearts to walk in complete obedience to God.
“When God wants to draw new obedience from His servants, He almost always communicates fresh vision.” ~ The Maxwell Leadership Bible.
We hesitated for quite some time, because honestly in the natural we didn’t want the responsibility. But we all know that delayed obedience is still disobedience!
Through personal experience, we’ve learned that if we delay what God asks from us, someone else will take our place. Not to mention, at some point we will be humbled and ultimately submit to His Will for our life.
Revelation With Obedience To God
As a result of submitting, this new obedience cultivated a fresh revelation regarding our priorities. More than ever before, we were going to have to prioritize God’s priorities. We were going to have to resist the temptations to take on the cares of the church before; our relationship with God, each other, our children, and our home.
You see; your home is your first ministry, yet it is not your only ministry. This is why we must come to fully understand God’s order of priorities and do our best to live within them. So that we can not only live a life that pleases Him; we can make a difference by pointing others to Him while we are tending to our families.

Where is God calling you friends? Is there a new level of obedience to God that you have delayed?
If you surrender to the process, what you may find, is that it’s not necessarily the new obedience you’re afraid of. The real fear may come from the higher standard, or the revelation of change that God is asking from you.
Whatever the case may be, we encourage you to seek God; not by praying and telling Him what you want. But asking Him what He wants from you. Then take time to sit in His presence silently, to hear Him speak a new revelation, so that you can walk in a new obedience.
