The last seven days of our Savior’s life are often referred to as Holy Week or Passion Week. Christians around the world spend the week leading up to Easter reflecting on the crucifixion of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To help our community reflect in this season, we put together a Holy Week Scriptures For Reflection Guide.
Called To A Life of Holiness
While some only attend worship services on Easter and Christmas. As a believer, we are called to live a life of holiness on a regularly, because this is who we are.
1 Peter 1:13-18 (NLT) So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.
14 So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. 15 But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.
16 For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”
Holy Week or Easter tends to soften people’s hearts the same way the Spirit of Christmas ignites kindness and generosity. And since people’s hearts are open to hearing the message of Christ during this time, it’s the perfect time to; pause, reflect and receive everything Christ has done for us on the cross.
Today we want to give you a Holy Week Scriptures For Reflection Guide to help you reflect on the passages of Jesus Christ leading up to His crucifixion and resurrection.
However, before we get into the details of the Scripture Guide, we want to take a minute and talk about how we reflect this week.
How You Reflect Honors The Lord
Let’s not get caught up on what we call this season; Holy Week, Passion Week, Lent, Resurrection Sunday, or even Easter.
Nor, should we get caught up in what we do on any given day to celebrate this season. Whether you devote time to; read scriptures, pray, fast, take communion, or worship, however, the Holy Spirit leads you is honoring to God.
Paul tells us in Romans 14, that any conviction we have to worship the Lord is honoring to Him. So however you feel led by the spirit to pause, reflect and receive from the Lord this week surrender to your conviction.
Romans 14:5-9 (NLT) In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable.
6 Those who worship the Lord on a special day do it to honor him. Those who eat any kind of food do so to honor the Lord, since they give thanks to God before eating. And those who refuse to eat certain foods also want to please the Lord and give thanks to God.
7 For we don’t live for ourselves or die for ourselves. 8 If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. 9 Christ died and rose again for this very purpose—to be Lord both of the living and of the dead.
Holy Week Scriptures Guide
These scriptures should be used as a guide. Meaning, you can read one passage or several; however you are led by the Holy Spirit, and it brings your heart peace.

In addition to meditating on these scriptures during the week, we created this Holy Week Printable Wall Art Set to display as the different events unfold throughout the week.
For example, we will display Hosanna on Palm Sunday and leave it out until it’s time to switch the printable.
Palm Sunday (The Sunday before Easter): Display Hosanna. Based on Matthew 21:1-11.
Thursday: Display Worthy is the Lamb. To remind us of The Last Super Jesus had with the disciples (Matthew 26:26-29). And a reminder that Jesus is the lamb that took away the sins of the world (John 1:29).
Friday: Display, It is finished. To remind us of the crucifixion (John 19:28-30).
Sunday (Easter Sunday): Display He is risen. To remind of us the resurrection (John 20).
If you don’t want to switch them out, you could hang all four printable wall arts during the month of Easter. There is no right or wrong way to use them.

In The End
As a believer in Christ, we’re no longer held to the religious law. We are called to live a life that is holy and set apart. This is why we believe it’s not enough to take communion just at church or just on Easter.
We should make every effort to make why we celebrate Easter personal in our everyday life.

I want to say thank you for your prayers and being transparent. Throughout my struggles I got caught up in me and my battles. When you all posted about having to close your church I was hurt and had no idea what to say. That is a first, I took sometime to reflect and realized that all of Our Father’s children are facing battles, whether they be financial, health struggles, spiritual battles etc. I want to say first of all I am sorry for not being the sister that I should have been and praying for your strength and secondly I pray for you and your situation.
