I can’t wait until this year is over to get ready for a new start. Sound familiar?
Every year when Jan 1st comes around most people look at it as a new start. The truth is, every morning God’s mercies are new, so we don’t have to wait for a New Year.
Lamentations 3:22-23 (NLT) says: “22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”
None of us will be perfect until Jesus Christ returns. Until then we have the privilege to start each day brand new. We can boldly go before the throne of Grace in our time of need; to ask God for a new start.
We’ve shared in previous blogs how we prepare for the New Year. Even with all the preparing, life still happens to all of us. When it does, it can throw us off our course if we give into the circumstances.
However, when you purpose to live a life with a personal relationship with God; you can go to Him anytime for a clean slate.
Last year, we purposed to say no more often; in an effort to keep ourselves from having an overwhelming schedule. Well, what do you know? Each month we found ourselves stretched with minimal time for each other, even ourselves.
Instead of beating ourselves up; we got up each morning. And asked God to give us the strength and the courage to say no when we are supposed to.
We wish we could say it became easier, but the truth is, we seemed to have found ourselves all year stretched and overwhelmed by how many times we said yes to investing time in other people.
As we went to God daily for his strength, what He showed us was, although He was using us to help others, He had multiplied our time so that we still had family time, time with each other, and even ourselves.
The bottom line is, when we feel as if we have missed the mark, we don’t need to beat ourselves up, or give up on pursing the goals we have set. Rather, we need to keep surrendering to God daily, and in that surrender, He will give us what we need for the day.
Whatever you have set out for the New Year, just remember it will be ok to miss the mark along the way. Continue to seek God daily, for His mercies are new every morning, and you just may be surprised to see all that gets accomplished.
From our family to yours, we wish you a Happy New Year. And may God grant unto you a spirit of wisdom to accomplish His will for your life.
