Many people around the world love the season of Christmas; even those who don’t believe in our Savior Jesus Christ. However, we decided long ago that Christ-Must Be The Center of The Season.

We’re always looking for ways to display reminders around our home. It keeps us, our children and our guest focused on the true meaning. Each year we add a new piece to our collection. And this year we’re adding this “Jesus, Peace, Joy, Shine – Christmas Hand-Thrown Mugs and Wooden Tray Set” from DaySpring.

“So commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these words of mine. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.” ~ Deuteronomy 11:18-19 (NLT)

Although it’s the perfect display for the Season, my immediate thought was what a beautiful way to share teachable moments with our children and those we welcome in our home. Needless to say, I literally raised my hand and asked to receive this in exchange for a review. (As always these opinions are my own and I’m going to keep them 100%)

I know for many the thought of HOSPITALITY is overwhelming and so can decorating be at times. However, today I want to encourage you to focus on a few rooms that point this season to Christ.

Even though we have been doing this for a few years, we started with one room and each year we added more Christ- centered décor.

Rooms For Focal Points

To reduce the feeling of being overwhelmed, start with just one room. Then over time, gradually focus on another room. So here are a few ideas for the rooms that usually get the most traffic.

Entry Way

Depending on how your home is set up, most guests will enter through your front door. And that’s a wonderful opportunity to set the tone of God’s presence.

We set the tone of our guest taking off their shoes by having a bench and shoe rack at the entry way. During Christmas or any holiday season for that matter, we add some sort of display in the nook located by our front door that sets the tone for the season.

Remember, keep it simple. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy but you do want it to make a statement. What you display, sets the Spirit of the atmosphere in your home!

Family Room

This is my favorite room in the house, because it’s where we gather to laugh, play games, watch movies and encourage one another.

Not to mention, where we keep our Christmas tree. It’s another opportunity to remind ourselves of the true meaning of Christmas.

In our family room we keep décor and gift books about the nativity story. In fact, the Nativity book is our daughter’s favorite books to read during the Christmas season.

Kitchen

During this time of year it’s not uncommon for us to gather around the kitchen counter for hot chocolate after school. When I was setting this wood tray out the other day, my daughter came downstairs and said; “when did we get these? We can read scriptures while we have tea or hot chocolate together!”

Ok, proud mommy moment, right there!

That’s exactly what I was thinking when I saw this set. And I’m so glad God confirmed it!

What touched my heart the most, was not that she wanted to drink from them; but that she wanted to focus on the scriptures!

Our heart’s desire was to display reminders around our home so that our minds would stay focused on the true meaning of Christmas.

For it is only in Christ, we can experience true JOY and PEACE!

“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.” ~ Luke 2:10 (KJV)

I really do love the inviting display, it just screams coffee anyone? Which was the other thought that came to my mind when I saw this. I thought about how often I host women in my home weekly for coffee and fellowship.

I imagined sitting with the ladies taking in that sweet aroma from the coffee holding a cup of peace while we encourage one another! Be honest, you can smell the coffee now, right?

Okay, I’m just a little excited to enjoy these cups with some friends!

Wrap Up

Just think of all the possibilities we have to walk and talk about our Lord and Savior throughout our home. For us personally, we don’t make this a habit just during Christmas. We purpose to display God’s Word throughout our home year-round.

If this is difficult for you, what better time to start than right now? You can begin with Christmas.
After all…

So many of us have lost the art of hospitality, when the truth is hospitality is one of our characteristics as a believer. When we take the time to invite others into our homes, it not only makes them feel valued; it’s an opportunity to share Jesus Christ. What I love most about this beautiful display is that who couldn’t use a little, Jesus, Peace, Joy, or Shine in their life?
